This is a great little unit for those that wish to "adventure" from point A to point B. Sometimes this little guy likes to take you on the "shorter" route (ie getting off the highway to save 1 mile of travel) - This is alright unless the road you take is slow.

I have also experienced this taking me NORTH across the Bay Bridge from San Fran to Oakland, when I wanted to travel South down the coast. Use this GPS for basic directions only - It's wise to search online prior to your trip to familiarize yourself about which roads you should expect to take.

Lastly, I gave this 1 star for holding a charge - On multiple occasions - after about 2 weeks of not using the unit, it will randomly turn ON. It sits in a basket on the counter and will start telling me to "turn around when possible" and "You have reached your destination". So unless I can hear it talking and I turn it off, the charge will drain eventually from this.

Very easy to use though! 5 out of 5 for that! -- Nice to a degree...
I got this thing and I have a few things I like about it and a few that I don't like. Things I like- for starters this is a very accurate gps. My parents own a different brand gps that is like 50 yards off so when you are driving in Dallas and have to get off on an exit that's near several other exits, it becomes a pain. The TomTom is right on and I love that. I also like that you can add different voices and correct maps. This just makes it a little nicer.

Now for the things that I don't like. My biggest gripe is the user interface. If I am looking for say a Best Buy and I just want to look and see where the closest one is or if there is one in the next town, I can't do that without first choosing the city, address, zipcode, or intersection that it is in. So if you are on vacation and want to look up and see what's around you can't. Deal breaker for me because I do that sort of thing alot and the reason I wanted a gps was to cut out having to plan my trips out. To me it kinda defeats the purpose of having a gps if you have to know the address of where you are going. The whole system feels limited in that respect and is not user friendly. Next thing that I don't like is the 30 day map guarantee. It is a lie. I activated and registrated my TomTom and was offered the map at a small discount. The map actually cost more than the gps did. Next is the fact that there is no expandable memory on this device. It has enough memory for the map and a few extras, but if you are wanting to have all of your extras on the device you may not have enough room for them all. Lastly, I don't like the rerouting it does. If you need to go around something it does that well enough but if you choose different route it will just start taking you way out of the way. I put in an intersection and it had my estimated arrival as a little long for actual time so I put alternate route and it took me more than 80 mi out of the way!

Functioning parts of the gps such as the screen and speaker are fine. The touch interface is a little difficult for me with xxl glove size hands but that's not anything against the gps. Sometimes, when trying to scroll around the map, it bogs down and gets really slow, but I don't use it for that much. The touch screen is a bit slow, nothing like an iPod touch. The brightness of the screen is adequate and I have never had any gripes about it. The speaker goes from mute to blaring. My truck has a pretty loud exhaust and the gps can turn up loud enough to hurt my ears over the exhaust. It doesn't matter if you are hard of hearing or not the speaker is great either way.

OVERALL: If you are going to use this unit to get from point 1 to point 2 with no in-between, you will love this gps. If you are like me and you want it for use from point 1 to point 2 with unplanned stops everywhere in between and maybe off of the route too, you will pull your hair out before it's all said and done. -- Depends how you want to use it.
I bought this for a trip in USA and had it delivered to my son's place as he lives in USA. I wanted a cheap one as I will use it once a year only. It works easily out the box and linked to PC to update maps.
Like any electronic gadget it needs some studying to get the best out of it. The voices were pretty ordinary but so what. The most annoying feature is the fact that when the voice says 'turn right 800 yds ahead' it does not tell you which road it is going to be. At some junctions there are a number of turns and it would be useful to know which one to go down. I also think that watching the road and the screen is not a very safe way to drive, especially in a stange land with the different rules and driving on the right. So I let my wife have the Sat Nav and call out the turns etc.
This works OK and I concentrate on driving. The tom tom was fooled once in Frederick MD where the Travelodge we booked from the web gave an address that the SAT NAV did not have.
We got there , eventually, but then found that the road name had been changed but the Travelodge web site NOT updated. So the SN was right but was annoying as the site was a typical interchange near many junctions and involved miles of going round to get another go at it.
All in all saved us getting lost many times over and the satellites came up right away. Also good for finding restaurants etc. -- Simple and Effective
I got this at a good price and using it out of the city is fine but in the city can be a nightmare.
Trying to work out the exact turn off when junctions are that close together so easy to go wrong. Coming back to Brooklyn late one night I wanted to go over the Brooklyn Bridge as free but it directed me so far near to Battery park then sent me round and round in circles until I got so fed up paid the toll for the battery tunnel.
Working out a route avoiding all tolls can add hundreds of miles but you need to be aware that a bridge over the Hudson in NY state may only be $1.25 so pointless avoiding this.
Out on the highways fine, but in the city a better model would be the one to go for. -- ok but...........
Good relation price/benefit, I just didn't like the size of the screen, because the keypad is small and you touch more than one key at a time. If you have US$20,00 more, buy a 4,3" screen. -- Honest
